On October 10, 2007 the Utah National Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America welcomed Steven D. Royster as the new Scout Executive. Mr. Royster has been with the Boy Scouts of America for 32 years; the last six spent as Scout Executive for the Sequoia Council in Fresno, CA.

 At the Utah National Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America Mr.  Royster will lead a team serving over 68,000 youth and more than 35,000 volunteer leaders, covering a geographical area from the Point of the Mountain to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and including Lincoln County in Nevada.

 “I’m excited to be in Utah and working with the Utah National Parks Council,” said Mr.  Royster. “I believe that Scouting saves and changes the lives of our youth as well as those adults who serve them. I am proud to be a part of this great program and look forward to serving here in Utah for many years.”

The Scout Executive serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation and provides oversight and direction for all functions of the council, including fiscal stability, volunteer and membership recruitment, and program quality. Mr. Royster’s strengths cultivated through past experiences will help him to fulfill his role as Scout Executive. His talents and experiences will be a great addition to the youth members, volunteers, and staff of the Utah National Parks Council.

Mr. Royster earned an Associate in Arts Degree from Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, CA. and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from California State University Fullerton. He has been married to his wife Jane for 29 years. Together they have three children; two daughters and a son who is an Eagle Scout. Mr. Royster is active in his church, is a member of the Rotary club, and enjoys skiing, hiking, watching sports, family travel, and reading.
