Varsity Scout
"On Target" - Each summer in July all Varsity units can
participate in this "mountain-top experience". Varsity Scouts from
all over the U.S. climb to the top of different mountains and use specially
designed mirrors to send a signal to other Varsity groups on other mountain
tops. This event usually lasts until about 1:00 p.m. and then the Varsity
groups descend from their mountain top hiking areas. The challenge of this
activity is to send a signal to different mountaintops and have someone on
that mountain flash a signal back. Varsity units see how many different
mountain top groups they can attract. The larger the mirror the bigger the
flash and more distance! Check the district calendar for the exact date of
the "On-Target" activity.
