Welcome to the Palmyra District Scouting program!
As a new Boy Scout leader you should become "trained" in your
position as quickly as possible. District training is scheduled three times a
year. Two important sessions you will need to attend are: Fast Start and
Basic training. Later on, you will want to go
to Wood Badge to receive advanced training.
Purchase your uniform
and all the insignia that is required for your uniform and your
particular leadership responsibility.
Obtain the necessary handbooks and
other literature for your position of responsibility. Be sure and READ this
literature to become familiar with the whole scouting program. There is lots to
read and learn. It will take months of dedicated effort of on-the-job
experiences before you will become comfortable in this new position. Be patient!
Be an example! Live the Scout Oath and Law in your daily life, it will make a
difference, Scouts Honor!
Come to Roundtable every month to
absorb the Scouting Spirit and to get help in many areas of leadership and
programming. Be sure to ask 100’s of questions at Roundtable!
Experience Scouting!! Plan a fun and
exciting scouting program with your boy leaders and let them lead the program! Have
fun...that is a requirement of Scouting!
